Tak’s 50th Celebration to Feature ‘Desert Rose Band’
This coming January 19th, family, friends and dealers of Takamine Guitars will gather in Anaheim, CA. to celebrate the great guitar company's 50th anniversary. Christening the stage at the 'The Ranch', a brand new multi-million dollar country-themed dinner and concert venue will be non other than Chris Hillman, John Jorgenson and Herb Pedersen of 'The Desert Rose Band'. Chris Hillman's musical pedigree is far too extensive to cover here. Suffice to say that at point zero of country rock's 'big bang' stood the 22 year old Hillman. Subsequent degrees of separation between Chris and Gram Parsons, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Linda Ronstadt, Emmy Lou Harris, Eagles etc. are virtually non existent. From that Sunday in 1965 when the Bryds appeared on Ed Sullivan singing 'Turn Turn Turn' and 'Mr. Tambourine Man', the die was cast and the rest was history. Considering the great artists in all related genres who subsequently found their way to Takamine, it is somehow fitting.
