Alan Arkin

Most of us know Alan Arkin as the Academy Award winning actor with an 80 (and counting) film pedigree. Some know he was a charter member of the now legendary “Second City” comedy improve group. Fewer are aware of his previous incarnation as a ground breaking folk musician. His trio “The Tarriers” was the first folk trio to place a hit single on the Billboard pop charts. Their first ever recordings of the” Banana Boat Song” and “Tom Dooley” along with their unique format and instrumentation were primary influences on the scores of folk trios to come, most notably “The Kingston Trio”. Obviously he left the trio to pursue acting but his musical legacy remains and the guitar is still his first love.
In the 90’s. He and his then neighbor, the legendary John Schofield were subjects of a long running Takamine print ad campaign and he remains in touch. As a token of congratulations for winning his Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine, Takamine gifted Alan with this Classic TC135SC.
