John Scofield's 'Past Present' Wins Grammy.

This year´s Grammy for ´Best Jazz Instrumental Album´ was presented to the iconic and well-deserving John Scofield for his critically acclaimed album, ´Past Present´ featuring tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano and drummer Bill Stewart from Scofield´s circa early-90s quartet – thus the title. John was also nominated for ´Best Improvised Jazz Solo´ from the album´s title track.

John's long and celebrated career includes collaborations with Jazz legends Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Mingus and Miles Davis. In 1998 Scofield was granted the Miles Davis Award by the Montreal Jazz Festival. Incredibly, although previously nominated, this is John´s first Grammy.

In 1998 John first picked up the Takamine NP65C, currently known as the P3FCN. It remains his nylon string acoustic of choice.
