Springsteen and E Street Band Turn In Top Tour of 2016

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's "The River Tour 2016" was originally conceived as a relatively modest 20 show outing to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Bruce's 1980 landmark album "The River". Sixty-six cities, seventy-six shows and 268.3 million in ticket sales later, The River Tour clocked out of 2016 as the number-one grossing tour of the year, edging out Beyonce and Coldpay for the top spot.

For a complete rundown of the top 10 tours and their numbers, check out this chart compliments of Pollstar. Note Garth Brooks' number 8 finish with lowest ticket prices and most shows per city.

Pollstar also reports that the concert business as a whole was up 11.3% from the previous year, grossing a combined 1.67 billion. With the likes of Bruce and the E Street Band turning in 3 and 4 hour, full-blown, high-octane performances, and Garth selling out as many as 11 consecutive shows in the same arena, it's no wonder.

Takamine Guitars looks forward to participating in very busy tour years for both in 2017.
