Biffy Clyro Unplugged Album and Tour Announced

Since its inception in 1989, MTV’s revered Unplugged Series has inspired scaled-down classic masterpieces from the likes of Nirvana, Clapton, Rod Stewart and Tony Bennett, many resulting in best-selling albums. Biffy Clyro’s soon-to-be released MTV Unplugged: Live at Roundhouse London is likely to join that elite Unplugged hall of fame.

Recorded at London’s famous Roundhouse venue on Nov 8th of last year, the recording is rich with favorites from the band’s back catalogue, as well as a stunning take on the Beach Boys classic ‘God Only Knows’ and brand new track ‘Different Kind of Love’.

With the Unplugged project as with all previous Biffy Clyro albums, it is Simon Neil’s stunning songwriting and distinctive vocals that captivate and transport, but it’s Simon’s seemingly symbiotic relationship with his Takamine P7DC  that sparks the heartbeat of the gorgeously sparse arrangements. Also featured is the Takamine PB5-SBL acoustic bass in the hands of the brilliant James Johnston.

MTV will broadcast a global premier of the Roundhouse performance on May 25th and the MTV Unplugged: Live at Roundhouse London album will also be released on that date. To offer fans the experience live, an intimate Unplugged tour of select European cities will begin September 15th in Dublin.

Meanwhile, check out Biffy Clyro’s cool, audience participating version of Many of Horror from ‘MTV Unplugged: Live at Roundhouse London’.
